How long has it been since you properly checked your health?

You service your car. You'll get the boiler checked. You invest in your career, your relationships, your finances. But when did you last invest in a high quality assessment to find out whether your body is actually fine? Everything else can be performing perfectly, one health problem can undermine all of it overnight.

Most of the conditions that cause real problems later in life - cardiovascular disease, diabetes, thyroid dysfunction, certain cancers - can develop silently for years before symptoms appear. A health MOT finds what you can't feel yet through comprehensive blood testing and diagnostic imaging. And for the majority of patients we screen, everything comes back fine. That's not a wasted appointment. That's the reassurance you were actually looking for. If everything isn't fine, you're aware and have access to the best in Harley Street care to fix it.

What is a health MOT?

A health MOT is a comprehensive, doctor-led medical assessment that evaluates your current health through blood tests, physical examination, and diagnostic imaging to detect conditions like heart disease, diabetes, and cancer in their earliest and most treatable stages. Our clinical team practises preventive medicine, catching problems years before they'd cause symptoms, when treatment options are widest and outcomes are best.

NHS health checks are offered to adults aged 40-74 every five years and cover a limited set of markers in a short appointment. A private health MOT includes 20 to 40+ blood parameters, advanced imaging, hormone profiling, and tumour markers, with 30-60 minutes of dedicated doctor time.

Who should have a health MOT?

You don't need to feel unwell. Most of our screening patients are healthy people who want to stay that way. We offer gender-specific packages including Well Man and Well Woman checks, and screen hundreds of patients every year from age 18 upwards.

Screening is particularly worthwhile if:

You haven't had blood tests or a proper check-up in more than two years
You have a family history of heart disease, cancer, or diabetes
You smoke or used to smoke
You work in a high-stress role
You're starting a new exercise programme and want a baseline
You're over 40 and have never had comprehensive testing

What happens at your appointment

Before

Continue regular medications. Wear comfortable clothing, arrive well hydrated. Other than that, there's no special preparation needed.

At the clinic

117a Harley Street. Your screening begins with a GP consultation - your doctor reviews your history, lifestyle, and family background to tailor the examination. Tests proceed in sequence: physical exam, blood draw, ECG, imaging.

Results

Blood tests are typically available within 1-3 working days. Imaging reports (X-ray, ultrasound and MRI) within 5-7 days. If anything urgent is identified, your doctor contacts you immediately.

Your results review is a separate, dedicated appointment and most people book their review appointment at the end of their initial screening. Your doctor explains every finding in plain English, identifies anything that needs attention, and provides personalised recommendations. You're welcome to bring a partner or family member to the review if you'd like support. If you need a specialist, we refer directly usually within 48 hours.

What if something is found?

Finding something is the whole point of screening. An early finding is not bad news, it's the opportunity to act.

Common Findings

  • Vitamin deficiencies (corrected with supplementation)
  • Borderline cholesterol or blood pressure (lifestyle changes)
  • Fatty liver (dietary intervention)
  • Mild thyroid dysfunction (medication)

Significant Issues

If something more significant is detected, we co-ordinate directly. Urgent specialist referrals within 48 hours, access to leading London consultants, and fully managed follow-up care.

You won't be handed a phone number and left to figure it out alone. We can refer you back with findings to your NHS GP too - it's your choice.

Common Questions

Q.What is a health MOT and why should I have one?

A health MOT checks your body's major systems through blood tests, physical examination, and imaging. Many serious conditions develop silently for years before causing symptoms. Screening detects them at the stage where treatment is simplest and outcomes are best.

Q.How much does a private health screening cost in the UK?

Our packages range from £495 (Essential) to £2,950-£3,350 (Ultimate with full-body MRI). All prices include GP consultation, examination, laboratory analysis, and a dedicated results review appointment. A £50 phlebotomy fee applies to all packages.

Q.What blood tests are included in a health MOT?

The Essential package covers 20+ markers including full blood count, kidney and liver function, full lipid profile, glucose, HbA1c, and thyroid function. Higher packages add hormone profiling, vitamins B12 and D, advanced thyroid markers, tumour markers, micronutrients, and genetic cancer markers. Your doctor can also add specific tests on request.

Q.How is this different from an NHS health check?

NHS health checks are offered every five years to adults aged 40-74 and cover a limited set of markers in a short appointment. Our screenings include 50+ blood parameters, advanced imaging, hormone profiling, and 30-60 minutes of dedicated doctor time in a single visit, with same-day availability.

Q.Do I need to fast?

Fasting is recommended but not strictly mandatory., it may affect the accuracy of lipid and glucose results, however our doctors are experts at contextualising blood test results, so there's no need to specially prepare.

Q.How long until I get results?

Blood tests are typically available within 1-3 working days. Imaging reports (X-ray, ultrasound and MRI) within 5-7 days Urgent abnormalities are communicated immediately. Your results review is scheduled once all findings are complete, most people book their review appointment for the following week after their screening

Q.What happens if something abnormal is found?

Your doctor explains the finding and recommends next steps. Common findings are managed straightforwardly (supplementation, lifestyle changes, medication). If specialist input is needed, we refer directly to leading London consultants, and you are usually within 48 hours.
