Professional Prescription Management

Medical Express Clinic provides a streamlined service for patients requiring private prescriptions. Whether you are a regular patient, visiting the UK and unable to see your usual physician, or simply require the convenience of a same-day service, our Harley Street GPs are available to assist.

Service Guidelines

All prescriptions are issued at the absolute discretion of the attending GP, following strict clinical and medical guidelines.

Controlled Drugs

We do offer controlled drugs prescriptions, however we only transcribe and do not initiate these prescriptions. You can book an appointment to see our Consultant Psychiatrist, Dr Ahmed Shoka.

We will always need to see evidence of existing prescriptions and may need to contact the prescribing doctor. The decision whether to prescribe lies solely with the prescribing doctor and our GPs will only prescribe within their professional judgement.

Cost of Transcribing a Controlled Drugs script is £250.

How It Works

1

Clinical Consultation

All new patients require a brief consultation to ensure medication safety. Patients who have previously undergone diagnostic testing with us confirming an infection may have their treatment issued without a secondary consultation.

2

Immediate Issuance

Prescription written and signed immediately by our private GPs upon approval, take it to any of the several pharmacies local to us.

3

Pharmacy Collection

Present your digital code at any UK pharmacy. Most prescriptions are processed and ready for collection within one hour of your appointment.

Prescription Costs

Our fee structure is transparent, ensuring you understand the costs involved in private care:

Consultation Fee: £150

Required for first-time or complex requests.

Prescription Only: £50

Available for established repeat medication.

Medication Cost

Paid directly to the pharmacy. Private prescriptions are not subject to the flat NHS fee; you pay the actual market cost of the medicine.

Common Questions

Q.Will you contact my regular GP?

We may need to contact the original prescribing doctor to verify previous dosages or dates, particularly for medications managing chronic conditions like hypertension, depression, or insomnia.

Q.Can I get a prescription without a consultation?

Virtually all patients using this service have run out of, lost or forgotten medicine that's already been prescribed. These circumstances are all eligible for a 'Prescription Only' service at £50. If we initiate the medication that will fall under our £150 full Consultation fee.

Q.I think I need this medication, will you prescribe it for me?

This would need to be clinically assessed in full Consultation with one of our private doctors.

Q.How much will the medicine cost at the pharmacy?

Private pharmacies charge the actual cost of the medication plus a small dispensing fee. For many common medicines, this is comparable to the standard NHS charge.

Q.Do you prescribe controlled drugs?

Yes, we can transcribe an existing controlled drugs prescription. You will need to show evidence of a previous prescription and we may need to speak to the prescribing doctor. Patients needing an initial controlled drugs prescription can book an appointment to see our Consultant Psychiatrist, Dr Ahmed Shoka.
