Can a doctor review my repeat prescription here?
A doctor at Medical Express Clinic can review a repeat prescription in person at 117a Harley Street when the medicine is already established for you and remains appropriate after that review. The £50 appointment is a clinical review, not a promise to prescribe.
New medicines, new symptoms and complex requests need the full £150 GP consultation. Controlled drugs can be transcribed from an existing script for £250 when evidence and clinical judgement allow. Starting a controlled drug is not done on that route.
Clinic fees are separate from what you pay at the pharmacy.
Three prescription routes
Choose the appointment that matches what you need: a full consultation for a new problem, a shorter review for an established medicine, or transcription of an existing controlled-drugs prescription.
Full GP consultation
£150
For first-time requests, new medicines, new symptoms and anything clinically complex. In person at 117a Harley Street, with no fixed time limit. If a prescription is clinically indicated during this paid consultation, there is no separate clinic fee for issuing it. Medication from a pharmacy is charged separately.
Prescription-only repeat review
£50
For patients who have run out of, lost or forgotten medicine already prescribed elsewhere. A doctor reviews each request and may approve it, decline it, or ask you to book the £150 consultation instead. This is not a promise to prescribe.
Controlled drugs transcription
£250
Transcription of an existing controlled-drugs prescription only. You must show evidence of a previous prescription. The clinic may contact the original prescribing doctor. The attending doctor decides whether to prescribe within professional judgement. Controlled drugs are not initiated on this route.
How prescribing decisions are made
The attending doctor reviews your request and evidence, then issues a prescription when it is clinically appropriate.
Controlled drugs
Medical Express Clinic can transcribe an existing controlled-drugs prescription when evidence supports it. Initiation of controlled drugs is not offered on the £250 transcription route.
Patients who need an initial controlled-drugs prescription may book Consultant Psychiatrist Dr Ahmed Shoka (GMC 4573207).
We may need to contact the original prescribing doctor or your regular GP to verify dosage or dates, particularly for chronic medicines such as hypertension, depression or insomnia treatments.

Appointments are in person at 117a Harley Street. If you are unsure which route applies, call before you book.
Clinical review
The doctor assesses your request, history and any evidence you bring. They may approve a prescription, decline it, or recommend the £150 consultation.
If a prescription is issued
You take it to a dispensing pharmacy. Pharmacy charges are paid to the pharmacy, not Medical Express Clinic. Private prescriptions are not subject to the flat NHS prescription charge; you pay the market cost of the medicine plus any dispensing fee the pharmacy applies.
Clinic fees and pharmacy charges

The £50 route is still an in-person review by a doctor. It may be suitable when the medicine is already established for you, but the doctor may decline the request or require a full £150 consultation.
Q.How much is a repeat private prescription in London?
The clinic review fee is £50 for an eligible repeat request, or £150 when a full consultation is required. Medicine cost is paid separately at the pharmacy.
Q.Will you prescribe the medication I ask for?
A doctor issues a prescription only when it is clinically appropriate after review. Requests for a new medicine need a full £150 consultation for proper assessment.
Q.Do you prescribe controlled drugs privately?
We transcribe existing controlled-drugs prescriptions for £250 when evidence and clinical judgement allow. Patients who need an initial controlled-drug assessment may book Consultant Psychiatrist Dr Ahmed Shoka via /specialist-clinics/psychiatry. Any prescription remains subject to his clinical judgement.
Q.How much will the medicine cost at the pharmacy?
Private pharmacies charge the actual cost of the medication plus a dispensing fee. Prices vary by drug and supplier.
Q.Will you contact my NHS GP?
We may contact your regular GP or the original prescriber to verify dosage or dates, particularly for chronic medicines.
Q.Can I get a prescription while visiting London?
You can attend in person at 117a Harley Street, and a doctor will approve the request after review if it is appropriate. Bring evidence of your existing prescription where possible.
Q.Is there an extra fee for a prescription during a £150 consultation?
No separate clinic fee when a prescription is clinically indicated during the paid consultation. Pharmacy charges still apply.
