Elite MOT Male (£1,850)

Comprehensive screening with male-specific examinations, abdominal/pelvic/testicular ultrasound imaging, and prostate health assessment.

Full Pelvic Physical Examination

In addition to the general physical examination included in all packages, the Elite MOT includes comprehensive external genital and rectal examination.

Testicular Examination

Systematic palpation of both testes, epididymis, and spermatic cord to detect lumps, masses, or abnormalities. Testicular cancer is the most common cancer in men aged 15 to 44. When detected early, cure rates exceed 95%. Most cases present with painless testicular lumps.

Digital Rectal Examination (DRE) - Optional

An optional assessment of the prostate gland by palpating through the rectal wall. DRE allows assessment of prostate size, consistency, symmetry, and detection of nodules or irregularities suggesting prostate cancer. Whilst uncomfortable, the examination takes less than one minute.

Ultrasound Imaging: Abdomen, Pelvis & Testes

Comprehensive ultrasound imaging performed by experienced ultrasonographers. Ultrasound uses high-frequency sound waves to create real-time images of internal organs. It's painless, non-invasive, and uses no radiation.

Abdominal Ultrasound
  • Liver: Fatty liver, cirrhosis, cysts, tumours
  • Gallbladder: Gallstones, inflammation, polyps
  • Pancreas: Masses, cysts, pancreatitis
  • Spleen: Enlargement suggesting blood disorders
  • Kidneys: Stones, cysts, masses
  • Aorta: Aneurysm screening
Pelvic Ultrasound
  • Bladder: Masses, stones, wall thickening
  • Prostate gland: Size assessment and abnormalities
Testicular Ultrasound
  • • Both testes and epididymis
  • • Detection of masses, tumours, suspicious lesions
  • • Hydroceles (fluid collections)
  • • Varicoceles (enlarged veins)
  • • Epididymal cysts

The entire examination takes 30-45 minutes. Images are reviewed by a consultant radiologist. Abdominal scanning requires a full bladder.

PSA (Prostate-Specific Antigen) - Men

PSA is a protein produced by the prostate gland. Elevated PSA can indicate:

  • Prostate cancer: The most common cancer in UK men, affecting 1 in 8 men during their lifetime
  • Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH): Non-cancerous prostate enlargement
  • Prostatitis: Prostate inflammation or infection

Normal PSA varies by age: Under 50: <2.5 ng/ml | 50-59: <3.5 ng/ml | 60-69: <4.5 ng/ml | 70+: <6.5 ng/ml. Elevated PSA doesn't confirm cancer but warrants further investigation with MRI and potentially biopsy.

Elite MOT Female (£2,095)

Comprehensive screening with gynaecological consultation, cervical screening, mammography, and gender-specific imaging.

Gynaecologist Consultation

In addition to the GP physical examination, the Elite Female MOT includes consultation with a specialist consultant gynaecologist. This appointment allows detailed discussion of:

  • • Menstrual history and cycle regularity
  • • Fertility concerns or family planning
  • • Menopausal symptoms
  • • Sexual health
  • • Previous gynaecological problems
  • • Screening history

Cervical Smear Test (Pap Test)

Cervical screening to detect precancerous cells or early cervical cancer. Cells are collected from the cervix using a soft brush during speculum examination. Samples are tested for high-risk HPV and examined microscopically for cellular abnormalities. Results typically available within 2-3 working days (faster than NHS). If abnormalities detected, we can arrange prompt colposcopy.

Ultrasound Imaging: Trans-Vaginal & Pelvic

Pelvic Ultrasound

Visualises the uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes, and bladder to detect cysts, fibroids, polyps, and other abnormalities.

Trans-Vaginal Ultrasound
  • Uterus: Size, position, fibroids, polyps, adenomyosis, masses
  • Endometrium: Thickness measurement (thickened may indicate polyps, hyperplasia, or cancer)
  • Ovaries: Cysts, masses, structural abnormalities
  • Fallopian tubes: Fluid-filled or dilated tubes (hydrosalpinx)

Trans-vaginal ultrasound provides far superior imaging of pelvic organs compared to abdominal ultrasound alone. The examination takes approximately 15-20 minutes.

Mammogram (Breast Screening)

Mammography uses low-dose X-rays to image breast tissue, detecting abnormalities often years before they can be felt. Mammograms can identify:

  • Breast cancers, including small tumours not yet palpable
  • Microcalcifications (tiny calcium deposits) that may indicate DCIS
  • Architectural distortion suggesting malignancy
  • Benign conditions including cysts and fibroadenomas

Breast cancer affects 1 in 8 UK women during their lifetime. Our digital mammography provides high-quality images with lower radiation. Images are reviewed by specialist breast radiologists.

CA-125 Tumour Marker

CA-125 (Cancer Antigen 125) is a protein often elevated in ovarian cancer, though it can also be raised in other cancers (endometrial, breast, lung) and benign conditions (endometriosis, pelvic inflammatory disease, fibroids). CA-125 provides additional information when combined with symptoms, examination findings, and imaging. Elevated CA-125 typically prompts pelvic ultrasound and gynaecological assessment.

Advanced Blood Tests (Both Packages)

The Elite package includes all blood tests from the Advanced MOT plus:

Iron Studies Panel

Comprehensive iron status assessment beyond simple serum iron:

  • Serum Iron: Current iron level in blood
  • Ferritin: Reflects iron stores. Low indicates deficiency before anaemia
  • TIBC: Total Iron Binding Capacity. Increases in deficiency
  • Transferrin Saturation: Low confirms deficiency; high may indicate haemochromatosis

Folate (Vitamin B9)

Essential for DNA synthesis, red blood cell production, and cell division. Deficiency causes megaloblastic anaemia (similar to B12 deficiency), neural tube defects in developing foetuses, and elevated homocysteine (a cardiovascular risk factor). Folate is found in leafy vegetables, legumes, and fortified grains.

Micronutrient Panel (Magnesium, Selenium, Zinc)

  • Magnesium Involved in over 300 enzymatic reactions including energy production, muscle and nerve function, blood pressure regulation, and bone health. Deficiency causes muscle cramps, fatigue, irregular heartbeat.
  • Selenium An antioxidant mineral essential for thyroid hormone metabolism, immune function, and DNA synthesis. Deficiency causes muscle weakness, fatigue, immune dysfunction.
  • Zinc Essential for immune function, wound healing, protein synthesis, DNA synthesis, and cell division. In men, reduced zinc affects testosterone production and fertility.

Tumour Markers

CEA (Carcinoembryonic Antigen)

Protein sometimes elevated in colorectal cancer, though it can also be raised in other cancers (stomach, pancreas, lung, breast) and benign conditions (smoking, inflammatory bowel disease). CEA is not used for diagnosis in isolation but provides additional information when combined with other investigations. Elevated CEA warrants further investigation, typically with colonoscopy and imaging.

Gender-Specific Markers

PSA (Men >40): Screen for prostate cancer. The most common cancer in UK men.

CA-125 (Women): Screen for ovarian cancer risk. Ovarian cancer is often diagnosed late because early symptoms are vague.

Is the Elite MOT right for me?
