Which prostate-screening tier do you need?
Prostate screening at Medical Express Clinic is more than one blood test. A GP examines you, interprets PSA in clinical context, and reviews the result with you in person. Your age, symptoms, family history and previous results guide the choice of tier.

Essential prostate screening
£349
A GP consultation and physical examination, a PSA blood test, and an in-person review of the result. This suits men who need a clinical assessment and a PSA baseline.
Advanced prostate screening
£699
Everything in Essential, with the broader Prostate Profile and a doctor-led results review. Choose this when you want more laboratory information around the same consultation.
Elite prostate screening
£1,299
Everything in Advanced, with bi-parametric prostate MRI and an in-person review. This is for men who want a more detailed structural assessment. A multi-parametric MRI upgrade can be added for £400 when it is offered. The upgrade is not automatic.
Urinary symptoms or a testicular change are assessed at a men's urology assessment.
What a PSA result can and cannot show
PSA is a protein made by the prostate. The number is useful, but only when a doctor reads it beside your age, symptoms and examination.
How PSA is interpreted
PSA can be raised for reasons other than cancer, including benign prostate enlargement and inflammation, so a raised PSA does not automatically mean cancer. NHS guidance makes the same point: a high PSA may be caused by an enlarged prostate or other non-cancer changes. The GP interprets PSA with your age, symptoms, examination and any other relevant results, and further investigation, if it is needed, follows the complete clinical picture: the history, the examination and, depending on the tier, the Prostate Profile or MRI.
If the problem is symptoms rather than a planned screen, a men's urology assessment is the usual first visit.
What happens when the results are back
Every tier includes an in-person doctor review.
After the results
The GP explains what the findings mean and whether monitoring, repeat testing or specialist assessment is appropriate. Result timing varies by tier, because a PSA, a broader profile and an MRI do not return together. If the findings need consultant input, that next step is discussed at the review.

Screening, symptoms or a wider check
Urinary symptoms, a testicular lump or a broader sexual-health concern should go to the men's urology assessment. That visit is GP-led assessment and referral, not these three tiers.
A wider male health check that can include prostate testing alongside cardiovascular, hormone and metabolic work is compared on Well Man examinations.
Inability to pass urine, sudden severe testicular pain, or symptoms of a heart attack need 999 or A&E. A planned screening enquiry is not the right first step for an emergency.
