At 117a Harley Street, Consultant Gynaecologist Dr Hikmat Naoum (FRCOG, GMC 3047637) provides discreet, single-visit genital, anal and perianal wart removal for both men and women.
After examining the area and numbing the skin with local anaesthetic, Dr Naoum uses precision hyfrecation (a fine electrical probe) to remove visible wart tissue in a 15 to 30 minute appointment.
The initial session costs £450 (including consultation and hyfrecation treatment), and a follow-up session is £150 if extensive or recurrent warts need a second pass.
Surface healing typically takes 7 to 10 days, and many patients clear their visible warts in a single session, especially when prescription creams or freezing have previously failed.

What is hyfrecation?
Unlike home creams that rely on repeated chemical irritation over several weeks, hyfrecation physically removes visible wart tissue during your appointment. After numbing the skin with local anaesthetic, Dr Naoum uses a fine electrical probe (a hyfrecator) to cauterise and lift away each lesion with pinpoint accuracy, sparing the surrounding healthy skin.
A typical appointment takes 15–30 minutes and surface healing usually takes 7–10 days (individual healing times vary depending on the number and location of warts). Dr Naoum examines the area first to confirm that hyfrecation is the right approach, explains every step clearly, and checks your comfort throughout. A clinical chaperone is always available.

What happens at the appointment
Step-by-step during your Friday session
- Private consultation and examination. Dr Naoum reviews your history, examines the area, confirms the diagnosis, and agrees the treatment plan with you before starting.
- Local anaesthetic. The area is numbed with local anaesthetic so the procedure remains comfortable.
- Precision hyfrecation. Visible wart tissue is carefully treated and removed using a fine probe, usually within 15–30 minutes depending on the number and size of lesions.
- Clear aftercare plan. You leave with practical wound-care guidance: keep the treated skin clean and dry for the first 24 hours unless advised otherwise, with normal healing typically taking 7–10 days.
- Follow-up if required. Many patients only need one visit, but if extensive or recurrent warts need a second pass, follow-up treatment is £150.
If you have already used prescription creams such as podophyllotoxin (Warticon) or imiquimod (Aldara), let Dr Naoum know when you arrive so he can factor that into your examination.
HPV testing and vaccination
Genital warts are caused by low-risk human papillomavirus strains, most commonly HPV types 6 and 11, which pass through skin-to-skin contact. Removing visible warts clears the physical growths, while many patients or their partners also choose Gardasil 9 vaccination to protect against future infection.

When are appointments available?
Wart removal with Dr Naoum runs on Fridays only, 10:00–16:00, with at least one day's advance booking, subject to capacity. It is not a same-day walk-in service.
Is hyfrecation painful?
Local anaesthetic is applied before the hyfrecator is used so the area is numbed. Most patients tolerate the procedure very comfortably, and Dr Naoum works at your pace throughout.
How many sessions will I need?
Many patients only need a single £450 session to clear their visible warts. If you have extensive, clustered or recurrent warts, a £150 follow-up session may be needed.
Is this available for men?
Although Dr Naoum is a Consultant Gynaecologist, he treats both men and women for penile, scrotal, vulval, perianal and anal warts.
Can you treat anal warts?
External perianal and anal warts are treated in the same Friday clinic using hyfrecation under local anaesthetic when clinically appropriate.
What if creams have not worked?
Many patients book hyfrecation after weeks of using prescription creams such as podophyllotoxin or imiquimod without success. Tell Dr Naoum what you have already tried and he will examine the area and advise on in-clinic removal.
Will this affect my partner?
Genital warts are caused by low-risk HPV strains (usually types 6 and 11) passed by skin-to-skin contact. Removing visible warts reduces surface viral load, and a partner can book a separate appointment to discuss HPV swab testing or Gardasil 9 vaccination.
