Persistent visible warts can be treated privately without involving your usual practice. Mr Hikmat Naoum treats men and women by hyfrecation under local anaesthetic, without requiring a referral. The first session is £450, with Friday appointments arranged at least one day ahead.

What is hyfrecation?
Hyfrecation uses a fine probe and controlled electrical current to remove wart tissue, after local anaesthetic to reduce discomfort.
A typical session lasts 15–30 minutes and healing usually takes 7–10 days; those are typical timings, not guarantees. Mr Naoum examines the area first to confirm removal is appropriate, then explains each step so you can pause if you need to. A chaperone is available throughout.

What happens at the appointment
What happens during treatment
- Assessment. Mr Naoum examines the area, checks that treatment is appropriate and agrees how much can be treated during the session.
- Local anaesthetic. Applied before the hyfrecator is used.
- Treatment. Wart tissue is removed with the fine probe. Most sessions take 15–30 minutes depending on number and size.
- Aftercare. You receive wound-care instructions and should keep the treated area dry for 24 hours unless advised otherwise, while healing typically takes 7–10 days.
- Follow-up if needed. Extensive or recurrent warts may need a further session at £150.
If you have previously tried prescription wart creams such as podophyllotoxin, tell Mr Naoum at the visit. He will advise whether in-clinic removal is suitable for you.
HPV testing and vaccination
Genital warts are usually caused by low-risk HPV strains, commonly types 6 and 11, which transmit through skin-to-skin contact. A partner can consider testing or vaccination separately.

Perianal and anal warts are treated with the same method when clinically appropriate.

HPV spreads through skin-to-skin contact. A partner can ask a doctor whether HPV testing or vaccination would be useful.
