A Well Man health check at Medical Express Clinic is a doctor-led assessment for men from age 18, using four MOT levels chosen by the question you want answered, such as heart risk, hormones or prostate health, without pushing you towards the longest list of tests.
Every Well Man level includes a GP consultation, physical examination, ECG, body composition, urinalysis and core blood tests, then adds a male hormone profile from Advanced, ultrasound and PSA for men over 40 from Elite Male, and full-body MRI at Ultimate Male.
Well Man checks cost £495 for Essential, £999 for Advanced, £1,850 for Elite Male and £2,950 for Ultimate Male.

Choose by the question, not the longest list
How to choose a Well Man check
If you are unsure how much testing is useful, that is a fair question and we would rather answer it than sell you more than you need. Age, family history and symptoms can point you towards a useful level. They do not decide it for you, and the most expensive option is not automatically the right one.

Which Well Man check should I choose?
Start with the question you want answered. If energy or hormones are on your mind, Advanced may be enough. If prostate, testicular or abdominal questions need imaging, Elite Male is there for that reason. Ultimate Male is for when MRI would add something useful, not because a longer list is always better. Essential MOT (£495)
A first or regular baseline: GP consultation, examination, 60+ health markers, measurements and investigations, ECG and body composition. Results usually take 3-5 working days. Allow 45-60 minutes. Choose this when you want a doctor-led check without hormone profiling, PSA or imaging.
Essential MOT detailsAdvanced MOT (£999)
Adds chest X-ray, lung function, VO2 Max and a male hormone profile, plus one year of follow-up GP access. Results usually take 3-5 working days. Allow 60-90 minutes. Useful if energy, mood, libido or fitness is the question, or you want ongoing GP access after the review.
Advanced MOT detailsElite MOT - Male (£1,850)
Adds abdominal, pelvic and testicular ultrasound, a full pelvic examination and PSA for men over 40. Results usually take 5-7 working days. Allow about 2-3 hours. Useful if family history or prostate, testicular or abdominal questions need imaging as well as blood tests.
Elite MOT detailsUltimate MOT - Male (£2,950)
Adds full-body MRI, which replaces standard X-ray and ultrasound for men, with the widest investigation set. Results usually take 7-10 working days. Allow about 2-3 hours at the clinic, plus 60-90 minutes for MRI. Choose this when MRI would answer a specific question, such as a significant family history.

What men-specific tests are added by level?
The shared baseline is the same at every level. What changes is the male-specific work: hormones first, then prostate and ultrasound, then MRI if that is the question. A proper check does not depend on taking every addition.
From Advanced: male hormones
- Male hormone profile: LH, FSH, prolactin, testosterone, oestradiol, SHBG and FAI
- Chest X-ray, spirometry and VO2 Max
- One year of follow-up GP access: four GP consultations, unlimited in duration, for use during the 12 months from screening
From Elite Male: prostate and ultrasound
- Full pelvic examination, including external genital examination and optional digital rectal examination
- Abdominal, pelvic and testicular ultrasound
- PSA for men over 40
- CEA tumour marker, read with the rest of the assessment
Ultimate Male imaging
- Full-body MRI of the brain, spine, chest, abdomen and pelvis
- MRI replaces standard X-ray and ultrasound for men
- The male examination, hormone profile and, from age 40, PSA remain part of the assessment
What these tests cannot do
PSA can be raised for several reasons. Your doctor interprets it with age, examination and imaging. It does not diagnose prostate cancer or replace assessment of new urinary or pelvic symptoms. Hormone results, ultrasound, MRI and tumour markers are not broad cancer detection, a diagnosis or an all-clear.

Essential and Advanced reports are usually complete in 3-5 working days, Elite in 5-7 working days and Ultimate in 7-10 working days. The review is arranged when the relevant reports are ready.

Advanced, Elite and Ultimate then include one year of follow-up GP access: four GP consultations, unlimited in duration, for use during the 12 months from screening.
If a finding needs specialist input, Medical Express Clinic can coordinate the next step through a Harley Street specialist network built over more than 40 years. Prescriptions, medication, repeat tests and further investigations remain separate. Ongoing care can stay within the same private GP practice.
When to book something else
When a Well Man check may not be the right fit
If something new, severe or worsening has started, a symptom-focused GP visit lets the doctor assess that problem directly, which is more appropriate than waiting for a screening appointment.
New, severe or worsening symptoms need a symptom-focused GP or urgent assessment rather than a routine check. Urinary, prostate or testicular symptoms may need a focused prostate assessment rather than a broader Well Man check.

How do I decide between the four levels?
Choose Essential MOT (£495) for a doctor-led baseline without hormones or imaging. Choose Advanced MOT (£999) for a male hormone profile, lung and fitness tests and one year of follow-up GP access. Choose Elite MOT - Male (£1,850) when ultrasound and PSA for men over 40 would answer a clearer question. Choose Ultimate MOT - Male (£2,950) when full-body MRI would help. Age and family history can guide you, but they do not decide a level for you.

What report will I receive after a Well Man check?
You receive a secure interactive digital report of more than 30 pages, with longer reports for higher levels and added investigations. Your doctor reviews every result before meeting you in person to go through the report, answer questions and agree any next step.
Does a PSA test diagnose prostate cancer?
A PSA result can be raised for several reasons. Your doctor interprets it with age, examination and any imaging. It does not diagnose prostate cancer and it is not an all-clear.
Do I need to fast?
Fast only if Medical Express Clinic gives you a specific instruction for your selected tests, continue regular medicines unless the clinic tells you otherwise, and drink water before attending.
Can a Well Man check replace a GP appointment for symptoms?
New, severe or worsening symptoms need a GP or urgent assessment rather than waiting for a screening appointment.
