Understanding Menopause & Perimenopause
What is Menopause?
Menopause is the natural biological transition when your ovaries gradually produce less oestrogen and progesterone. It's officially diagnosed after 12 consecutive months without a period.
Perimenopause typically begins in your 40s, marked by fluctuating hormone levels that cause various physical and emotional symptoms.
Common Symptoms
- Physical
- • Hot flushes & sweats
- • Irregular periods
- • Sleep disturbances
- • Weight gain
- Cognitive
- • Brain fog
- • Mood swings
- • Anxiety/Low mood
- • Fatigue
HRT & Treatment
Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) replaces the oestrogen and progesterone that your body no longer produces. It's the most effective treatment for menopausal symptoms and protecting bone density.
