Which package or test fits
If you are unsure which infections to screen for, choosing a package is the simplest way to start because your doctor reviews your history and guides you in the room. Compare package prices and included tests, with tailored male and female sample sets where anatomy differs.
Symptoms or a comprehensive check
Every package includes a doctor's consultation and examination. Bronze (£250) covers the essential four-infection screen (chlamydia, gonorrhoea, HIV and syphilis), while Silver, Gold and Platinum add wider bacterial and viral panels.
Need every result in 6 hours
FAST Screen Simple (£350) and FAST Screen Complex (£450) return every result in 6 hours, including urine and swab tests. On our standard packages, blood tests are generally available within 24 hours, while urine and swab tests can take up to 3 working days.
Testing a single known infection
Our individual tests start from £68 and can be booked directly without a consultation when you only need a single marker checked. Men who have sex with men can also view our dedicated MSM screening packages.

Discreet check-in at reception using your name or a chosen pseudonym, taking around 5 minutes in our general practice waiting room.

Private discussion with your doctor covering your symptoms, timing since contact, and which package or test gives the clearest answer (typically 15–20 minutes).

Physical examination if needed, followed by doctor-guided blood, urine or swab collection (typically 10–15 minutes).

Delivered securely to you: 6 hours for every result on FAST packages; on standard packages, bloods are generally available within 24 hours and urine/swabs up to 3 working days.

Before you attend
Windows and preparation
Testing too early after a recent encounter can miss an infection that is still in its incubation window. Your doctor checks when you were last at risk and tells you honestly what can be tested reliably today and whether a follow-up test is worthwhile.
Timing that changes the test
- For a urine chlamydia or gonorrhoea test, the clinic needs the first part of the urine stream. Medical Express Clinic will confirm preparation for the sample being taken.
- The right HIV test and the right time to take it depend on when you were last at risk. Your doctor will advise you at the visit.
- Herpes PCR swabs are most accurate when taken directly from an active sore or blister.
Useful to bring
- A list of any current medicines, recent antibiotics or supplements.
- The date of your last period, if applicable.
- A rough timeline of when any symptoms started and how they have changed.
- Approximate timing of recent sexual contacts, as far as you are comfortable sharing.
After the sample
Results and the treatment path
If a test comes back positive, you are not left to figure out the next step on your own. Your doctor reviews the result with you and arranges the appropriate management plan.
A laboratory result is always interpreted alongside your clinical history and examination before your doctor confirms what it means and what treatment is appropriate.
All of our STI screening packages include treatment when clinically indicated, which may involve a private prescription, confirmatory testing, a follow-up review or a specialist referral (treatment does not automatically begin before results return, and some complex infections are referred to specialist hospital care).
For HPV protection or visible warts, we run dedicated services on their own pages: HPV vaccine and typed swab testing and consultant-led genital warts removal.
If a partner also needs testing or treatment, they can book their own confidential visit. We do not contact anyone else unless you ask us to share information.

- Reassurance after recent condomless sex or a split condom with a new or casual partner

- A current or recent partner has let you know they have tested positive for an STI
- A clean baseline check before starting a new relationship or planning a pregnancy
In 2023, UKHSA recorded around 401,800 new STI diagnoses in England, with chlamydia remaining the most common. Because asymptomatic infection is so frequent, a targeted screen is the only reliable way to know your status.
Boundaries
When to use another route
If you are acutely unwell, in severe pelvic or testicular pain, unable to pass urine, or have a high fever, please do not wait for a routine clinic slot. Call 999 or go to A&E.
- Contact NHS 111 for urgent out-of-hours advice that is not life-threatening.

Bacterial and parasitic
Chlamydia, gonorrhoea, syphilis, mycoplasma genitalium, ureaplasma, gardnerella and trichomonas.
Viral
HIV, herpes I and II, hepatitis B, hepatitis C and, on Platinum, 28-subtype HPV typing. Hepatitis B and Gardasil 9 HPV vaccinations are available separately.
