Q.Do I need a GP referral for fertility screening?
No referral is needed. You can book directly. NICE recommends that couples who have not conceived after 12 months of regular unprotected intercourse (or 6 months if the woman is over 36) should be investigated, but you are welcome to test proactively at any time.
Q.What is included in the female fertility screen?
A consultation with a consultant gynaecologist, trans-vaginal ultrasound to assess the uterus and ovaries, AMH (ovarian reserve) testing, and a hormonal panel including FSH, LH, prolactin, oestradiol, vitamin B12, iron, and rubella antibodies.
Q.What is included in the male fertility screen?
A GP consultation, comprehensive semen analysis (count, motility, morphology), male hormone profile (testosterone, FSH, LH, SHBG), and nutritional markers including zinc, selenium, vitamin D, and PSA.
Q.How quickly will I get results?
