What affects the price of a blood test?

  • Number of markers. A single test is cheaper than a panel. Packages bundle related markers at a lower price per test.
  • Specialist analysis. Genetic and niche tests, such as an Ehlers-Danlos NGS panel, cost more because of the laboratory work involved.
  • Turnaround. Same-day or urgent results can carry a premium over standard reporting.
  • Doctor input. Package prices include clinician review. Some single walk-in tests are priced for the test alone.

Package or individual test: which is better value?

For a general health check, a package such as the Gold package is usually better value than buying each marker separately. If you have one specific concern, for example thyroid function or female hormones, a single test keeps the cost down.

If you are not sure, our GMC-registered doctors can tell you which tests are worth doing before you pay, so you are not spending on markers that will not change anything.

Do you need a GP referral?

No. You can walk in or book online and choose your own tests at our Harley Street clinic, with same-day appointments available seven days a week.
