Need to see a doctor today?
Walk in or book a same-day appointment, seven days a week. No time limits. Our senior GPs will give you a proper examination, a clear diagnosis, and a plan of action instead of a five-minute brush-off.
What is an urgent private GP consultation?
An urgent private GP consultation is a same-day, in-person appointment with an experienced doctor who can diagnose, treat, and prescribe for health concerns that can't wait for a routine NHS appointment. Unlike telephone triage or brief NHS slots, a private urgent consultation gives you an unhurried, face-to-face examination with immediate next steps. Whatever follow up is needed, it happens in days, not months.
Why patients come to us
Most people who walk through our door have the same story. They tried their NHS GP and the next appointment is in two weeks, they got a phone call when they needed to be examined in person. They were given 10 minutes for something that needed 30 or they just need to see a doctor today and don’t have the time to waste.
Some are visiting London and need a doctor who can see them now. Some have multiple symptoms and want a doctor to actually take the time to listen, examine them, and think. Some just want a clear next step rather than 'let's wait and see.'
Whatever brought you here, you'll be seen by a senior, GMC-registered GP who has spent years in both NHS and private practice. They've seen it before. They'll take it seriously.
If you already know you need to be seen today, call 020 7499 1991. Walk-ins are welcome, or book online to secure a specific time.

What happens when you come in
We're at 117a Harley Street, a few minutes' walk from Oxford Circus, Regent's Park, and Bond Street stations. When you arrive, reception will check you in and you'll be seen in a private consultation room.
There's no clock running. Most consultations take around 30 minutes, but if your doctor needs longer, they take longer. You won't be rushed out because the next patient is waiting.
Your appointment includes a full history, physical examination, and a clear explanation of what your doctor thinks is going on. If you need a prescription, it's written on the spot. If you need blood tests, we can often arrange them in-clinic the same day. If you need a specialist, everything from an immunologist to a colorectal surgeon, dermatologist, cardiologist we refer directly, usually within 24-48 hours. No waiting for a referral letter to work its way through a system. We also offer direct access to our own in-house Specialists for integrated Consultant care.
You can request a male or female GP when booking and every examination follows our chaperone protocol.
If you need a private sick note for your employer, your doctor will provide one at the end of the consultation at no extra charge.
What £150 gets you
How we're different from most private GPs
| Feature | Medical Express Clinic | Many private GP services |
|---|---|---|
| How you're seen | In-person, face-to-face in a private consultation room | Often video or phone call only |
| Time with your doctor | No time limit. Average 30 minutes, longer if needed | Typically capped at 10-15 minutes |
| Who you see | Senior GPs you can build a relationship with. Some patients have been coming to us for over 20 years | Whichever doctor is available. Different face each time |
| Physical examination | Full hands-on examination as standard | Limited or impossible remotely |
| Blood tests & investigations | Arranged in-clinic, often the same day | Referred elsewhere, booked separately |
| Prescriptions | Written on the spot, collect from any of the several local pharmacies | Sent electronically, often for medicine delivery |
| If you need a specialist | Direct referral, usually within 24-48 hours | May require a separate process or additional fee |
| The practice | Family-owned, CQC-registered, 40+ years on Harley Street | Often part of a large corporate chain or app-based platform |
"We're a small practice and we like it that way. You're not a ticket number in a queue. Our doctors know their regulars by name, remember what was discussed last time, and actually care whether the treatment worked. That's not a marketing line, it's just what happens when a clinic has been run by the same team for decades."
Pricing Notes
The £100 follow-up means if your concern needs a second visit, you're not paying full price again. Many patients find this useful for an in depth review after an initial assessment. If you’re coming back just to pick up a prescription or review blood test results, there’ll be no charge.
No hidden fees. If blood tests or investigations are needed, these are priced separately and your doctor will discuss costs before proceeding.

Q.Can I be seen without an appointment?
Yes. Walk-in patients are welcome seven days a week. Booking online guarantees your time slot, but walk-ins are seen as quickly as possible based on availability.
Q.Can you prescribe antibiotics?
When clinically appropriate, yes. Your doctor will examine you, confirm the diagnosis, and prescribe only when indicated. The prescription is issued immediately and can be filled at any pharmacy.
Q.Can you arrange X-rays or scans?
We don't have on-site imaging, but our GPs arrange same-day private X-rays at nearby partner centres. We also offer rapid access to Ultrasound scanning, MRI and CT scanning facilities. Q.Can I see the same doctor if I need to come back?
Yes. When booking a follow-up, you can request the same GP for continuity of care.
