Professor of Cardiology
Darrel Francis is Professor of Cardiology at the National Heart and Lung Institute. He specialises in using quantitative techniques, derived from mathematics, engineering and statistics, to problems that affect patients with heart disease.
He trained in Medical Sciences at Cambridge University and trained as a Junior Doctor in Oxford Radcliffe Trust, and developed a strong interest in understanding mechanisms, diagnosis and treatments in quantitative terms.
In 2009 he was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians.
Prof Francis is now working as a Consultant Cardiologist at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.
He conducts and analyses tests on Cardiology patients, including echocardiography, stress echocardiography and cardiopulmonary exercise testing, and has special expertise in cardiopulmonary interaction.

An electrocardiogram or ECG is a tool for monitoring rhythm and electrical activity of your heart. It is being used to examine various conditions such as coronary heart disease and arrhythmia.
We provide you with an ECG done by our GPS at the clinic starting from £110. If you need a report, this can be conducted at your Consultant appointment.

Exercise ECG or stress test helps in diagnosing coronary heart disease. There is a small device attached to your body and you need to exercise on the treadmill. The test calculates if the heart muscle is getting sufficient blood from the coronary arteries.

This test will record your heartbeat for 24, 48 or 72 hours with the help of a device attached to your body. It can be used to assist diagnosis and is mainly used when an ECG has not picked up any irregularities and you still experience problems.
